What does diversity mean? Word-books and dictionaries include definitions like ”representation of many different groups”, ”a large and varying number”, “ethnic and cultural diversity”, “an amount of units”. What do you think about when you hear the word? And how do you connect it to the university and your everyday life here as a student or employee? Is there diversity at the university? What does it look like?
The student unions at LiU and the Strategy Group for Equal Opportunities arrange a big photo competition about Diversity. The competition gives students and employees the opportunity to do their own interpretation of diversity at LiU. Get out there with the camera and show your picture of diversity at the university! You should also write a text with an explanation and motivation for your picture (a maximum of 60 words). What do you want to say with your picture?
There are nice prices to win for the best picture and text. The winner gets a Nikon D80, 18-55 optics, battery handle and a flash worth about 12 000 SEK.
The jury consists of representatives from the student unions and the Strategy Group for Equal Opportunities, a representative from the Bureau against Discrimination, Faiz Jaber from Linköping Municipal, the photographers Tord Olsson and Brita Nordholm. The photos will be shown in a photo exhibition at the Student union houses and the libraries in Linköping and Norrköping.
So grab your camera and do your interpretation of diversity. The photos should have at least 150 dpi and be of good quality to be able to be enlarged with maintained good quality for the exhibition. You may send in no more than 5 different pictures. You also have to have the rights to distribute the picture.
Send in your picture electronically together with your text before 31st of October to mangfald@studorg.liu.se.
